Membership Information
Membership in the NHLTA is encouraged of all trustees, alternate trustees, former trustees, interested individuals, library directors, and members of friends groups. Membership offers educational opportunities through workshops, conferences, quarterly newsletter, regional networking gatherings, LISTSERV® networking, and resource materials on this website. More information on the advantages of NHLTA membership.
The membership year begins July 1 and ends June 30. Membership renewal notices for 2026-27 will be emailed July 1, 2026. A second renewal notice will be emailed August 1, 2026. The per-member rate is $35. NHLTA now accepts credit cards.
If your library does not have any current members of NHLTA, please download, print and complete the NEW MEMBER form and mail with a check to the NHLTA address on the form.

BUNDLE MEMBERSHIPS. Bundle members share the same renewal date, status and membership level. The Bundle Coordinator is responsible for adding new members to the bundle. The entire bundle is charged a single membership fee which is paid by the Bundle Coordinator. If you are the designated Bundle Coordinator (Account Administrator) for your library, please log in as your library’s main contact and review/edit the members listed under your library’s profile as soon as possible to ensure a smooth transition. AFTER ELECTION CHANGES. Tutorial for updating and changing your trustee board members after elections.
WA Event Registration: Follow the step-by-step guide on how to register for an NHLTA events. The system allows only one registration per person therefore each member must enter their own registration.
Please share this guide with your other board members and your library director so they will know how to register for a NHLTA event.

Frequently Asked Questions About Membership
We paid for three trustees: Mary, James, and Wilma, for the membership year July 1–June 30. However, James resigned in September and we had a replacement appointed—Francine. Do we have to pay for another membership for Francine?
No, since Francine replaced James, she assumed his paid membership status. When a mid-term change occurs, it is important to notify NHLTA as soon as a replacement is appointed so that the new trustee can receive full membership benefits including mailings and other communications from NHLTA. We paid for three trustees: Mary, James, and Wilma, for the membership year July 1 – June 30. However, Mary didn’t run again and Carol was elected to the position. Do we have to pay for another membership for Carol?
No, since Carol was elected for Mary’s position, she assumed Mary’s paid membership status. Why does the invoice sometimes have “old” trustee names on it?
Elections for town offices are usually held in March. If your Bundle Coordinator does not update your library members, the invoice will have “old” trustee names on it. Contact: j.palleiko@nhlta.org if you need assistance.
Why does NHLTA need my personal information?
As is standard practice of membership in professional organizations, NHLTA also asks for personal information; however, this information is kept in confidence and is not distributed.
NHLTA needs your mailing address in order to send you the quarterly newsletter and any other print communications from NHLTA.
NHLTA also needs your email address in order to send you time-sensitive communications: membership renewal invoices, event announcements (spring conference and annual meeting, workshops, regional gatherings), registration dates, registration deadline reminders, event changes and advocacy actions.
NHLTA may need your telephone number in order to reach you when your newsletter is returned or your email bounced, or when there are last minute changes that affect you, such as moving off the Wait List for a workshop.Why did NHLTA send us another renewal reminder?
If you didn’t pay for your membership renewals when you received the first email on July 1, then NHLTA will email a second reminder on August 1. Your membership is effective from July 1 – June 30.
